Kathy Ireland launches quilts, bedding with Hallmart Collectibles

By Lisa Casinger -- Kids Today, 9/1/2006

Hallmart Collectibles debuted its Kathy Ireland Home youth bedding at the Las Vegas Furniture Market in July.

Kathy Ireland, CEO and chief designer of Kathy Ireland Worldwide, said she was "thrilled about the partnership" with Hallmart Collectibles and being able to offer youth bedding that is fashion-forward and has quality and value.

"We're taking the anxiety out of shopping and decorating for busy moms," Ireland said. "Our products have to serve the kids and the moms and we took this into consideration by having focus groups with both to find out what they want in a product. The bedding is all machine washable, it's easy to care for and it's durable."

The collection includes four quilts with pillow shams; Princess Pearl, Purple, Country Paisley and Rainbow Stripes as well as twin bedding sets like a camouflage line featuring grommets, cargo pockets and a duffle bag for storage, which will retail for about $89.

"Hallmart Collectibles is very pleased to partner with one of the leading designers in America today," said Hallmart CEO Jesse Ghalili. "Kathy Ireland's success is unequaled in the fashion and home industry. In just seven years, Kathy has built a home brand that went from zero to $1.4 billion in annual sales. We have much to learn from this incredible woman and her extraordinary team. For two years in a row, Kathy was named one of the 50 Most Influential People in the Home Fashion Industry. This summer, Kathy Ireland Home by Standard was named the second largest growing furniture company in the country. We look forward to great success."

Ireland said adding a youth bedding collection to her growing brand was a natural fit and ties into her philosophy of "finding solutions for families, especially busy moms." Crib bedding may be Ireland's next addition to her line, but she said it takes time to find the right partner and she likes to move at a well-thought out pace rather than rushing into projects.

"Thousands of hours of work by lots of people go into our collections," she said. "We researched fabrics and color trends all over the world and listened to our customers to come up with bedding that serve us the way we live. Kids should be welcome in every room of the home and making great bedding for them just made sense."

With the addition of Hallmart Collectibles bedding, the Kathy Ireland Worldwide brand now includes products in flooring, rugs, furniture, lighting, decorative accessories, window coverings, bedding, mattresses, candles, apparel (including the socks that started it all) and jewelry. The company has annual sales of about $1.4 billion.

Four quilts, Rainbow Stripes, Country Paisley, Purple and Princess Pearl, are part of Kathy Ireland Home for Hallmart Collectibles youth bedding debut.
