California Paints names 2007 color trends

California Paints, a leading paint manufacturer, announced its color trends for 2007.
According to Aimee Desrosiers, the company's color expert, forecaster and industry consultant for home fashion, down-to-earth tones as well as vibrant colors are heading home in 2007.
"This year's popular palettes will include everything from fusions of earthy yellow, green and browns, to lively citrus combinations, coppery golds, and intense purples and reds," Desrosiers said. "Many of our new offerings such as Pretty Shady and Papaya capture the soothing colors of nature while Viva la Color and Get Jaded bring bold accents to the home."
The hot home hues for 2007 include:
- earth tones, elemental and charcoal grays, naturally warm bronzes, whites and tans, as well as the merging of earth browns and down-trending pinks;
- sunrise colors, combinations of green/yellows and orange, accented with dramatic browns or midnight purple/blacks;
- gold, brown, orange, and coppery gold that are both global and ethnic;
- orange. Think citrus, yellow, green, and tangerine. Orange moves beyond its role as an accent color and takes center stage with citrus combinations of green and yellow remaining popular through 2008;
- purple, gaining intensity, paired with yellow or gold as well as with citrus yellow/greens and it moves from subtle hints of purple-tinged whites to medium-toned orchids and lilacs;
- red is back on the rise with a full-out revival in 2008 due to the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Increasing in chroma and diverging into two equally popular versions — cool red and warm red;
- pops of green — a deep, jade green or over saturated turquoise.
California Paints forecast colors are available in exclusive 4-ounce jars. Based in Andover, Mass., California Paints is a division of California Products Corp., a manufacturer of paints, coatings and sports surfacing systems since 1926.
