Summit Baby, Lambs & Ivy recognized by iParenting Media

Staff -- Kids Today, 4/1/2007

Summit Baby and juvenile bedding manufacturer Lambs & Ivy have both been honored by iParenting Media Awards.

Summit Baby's Viva! Nursing pillow has been recognized by iParenting Media with its ISO 9001:2000 certification as a best product in the children's and juvenile products industries. ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the world's largest developer of standardization regulations and ISO 9001:2000 is an internationally recognized standard for quality assurance.

The inflatable pillow supports the user's arms and back and the outer covering can be removed for washing.

Summit Baby evolved from Dewellton LLC, a Finnish garment manufacturer that develops products for the juvenile market. The Tuoriniemi family-owned Dewellton has a strong presence in the Scandinavian market through its customers — multinational Scandinavian fashion houses including Marimekko Ltd.

"After our first exciting year on the U.S. market, we are happy to be rewarded with such valuable recognition," said Cornelia Tuoriniemi, president of Dewellton.

The company's Estonian sewing factory outputs 5,000 to 10,000 garments every week.

"If we converted the capacity to just breast-feeding pillows, the output would be 20,000 pillows a week," Tuoriniemi said. "In response to increased demand for sewing capacity, we will be expanding floor space by 15,000 square feet before September. With this new expansion we will be able to provide sewing capacity for other juvenile product manufacturers as well. Currently, our own juvenile product selection is expanding into new dimensions with previously non-existing novelties, some to be released starting in spring 2007."

The El Segundo, Calif.-based Lambs & Ivy picked up an iParenting award for 2007 Best Products Call in the accessories category for its Bright Butterfly ceiling mobile.

The mobile attaches to the ceiling and features a mix of fabrics and colors and coordinates with other accessories and bedding in the Bright Butterfly line.

Lambs & Ivy's Bright Butterfly ceiling mobile won an iParenting award in the accessories category.
