Whimiscal looks bow at New York Home Fashions Market
Bright colors make a splash on youth bedding
By Carole Sloan -- Kids Today, 4/1/2007
A more sophisticated approach to kids furnishings was evident in both bed and bath merchandise introduced at the New York Home Fashions Market recently.
While licensed product still dominates the youth textile category, there were a number of innovations such as stylish jacquards for towels, prints designed to amuse and wow and ultra-luxurious including cashmere blankets for infants.
In the sheet category, an important trend is the upgrading of constructions with more introductions moving to 200 thread counts in either all cotton or cotton/polyester blends, a marked departure from the previous prevalence of muslin or lower count constructions.
Atomic Rock, a new print bed from Lawrence Home Fashions, lets kids explore the solar system with colors that glow in the dark and coordinate with polyester/cotton 200 count sheets.
