| LAS VEGAS — The Powell Co. is debuting a new youth bedroom-in-a-box concept at the market here, which will include a twin headboard, dresser, nightstand and mirror all packed in one box.
The first three groups are being sourced in Vietnam, and include Alexis, Evan and Spencer. Evan is a traditional collection with elements of European influence and a casual, sophisticated feel. It features panel and frame door design, ogee drawer edges and reverse chamfered tops in rich, rubbed-through Merlot finish with brushed nickel hardware. The Alexis group is a coastal New England cottage design featuring louvered shutter style panels in the headboard and dresser, tapered legs, ball finials and scalloped apron rails in a Cottage White finish. Spencer is a transitional group with tapered legs, bead board panels, shaped drawer front frames, antique brass- finished hardware and a lightly distressed rich cherry finish. The dresser, mirror and nightstand are fully assembled, and the headboard requires leg assembly. Each box weighs about 175 pounds, and the total package will retail between $599 and $699. Powell plans to ship the line in late May or early June. Slack said next in line for Powell is a series of desk and chair combinations packed in one carton. |
