Skatelab extends brand to room décor

Lifestyle property aimed at boys 6 to 15

-- Kids Today, 11/21/2007 7:28:00 AM

Skatelab, a California-based skate park and museum, is expanding its brand with a new licensing deal for room accessories and furniture.

Skatelab has partnered with Skateboard Furnishings for the new line that is targeted to boys ages 6 to 15. The initial collection is composed of book shelves and picture frames that are made out of real skateboards, wheels and trucks. The accessories are offered in a myriad of graphics and colors to fit different styles. Currently, the line is only available at Target.com, but Skateboard Furnishings plans to open up retail distribution channels in spring 2008 when it expands the accessories line and adds furniture.

“We are very excited about our new launch,” said David Zasloff, president of Skateboard Furnishings. “And by teaming with Skatelab, we can bring the personal emotional connection kids have with skateboarding into our products.”

Said Todd Huber, co-owner of Skatelab: “My personal goal is to provide kids everywhere with the opportunity to experience a touch of Skatelab.”

Other Skatelab licensing programs include Jem Sportwear for apparel, Elan-Polo for footwear, August Accessories for clothing accessories and Rand International for skateboards and safety gear.
