New York showroom market dates change – again

New September/March schedule begins in second half of 2008

The Home Fashions Products Association (HFPA) has announced a new schedule for the New York Home Fashions Market, colloquially known as “market week.”

The new schedule follows a March/September format and will begin the second half of this year when showroom market takes place from Monday, Sept. 15 to Friday, Sept. 19. (Dates had previously been set as Aug.10-14.)

“The HFPA board is committed to selecting dates that best serve retailers and our membership,” said Barry Leonard, HFPA president as well as president and ceo of Ex-Cell Home Fashions and Glenoit LLC.

“Over the past six months, the board and I have talked to members, retailers, media partners and key industry partners in an effort to balance various industry commitments and needs,” he added.

Leonard also said HFPA continues working with George Little Management-- organizer of the New York International Gift Fair/New York Home Textiles Market Week -- to find a way to bring dates for both events into line. The process is ongoing.

Dates for 2009 have been set for March 9-13 and Sept. 14-18.

For more information, contact Deborah Collins, HFPA executives director, at (212) 297-2122 or dcollins@kellencompany.com.
