Forever Young Furnishings by Opus Designs coming to High Point
By Tanya K. Merritte -- Kids Today, 4/1/2008
After being acquired by Hooker Furniture in the winter, Opus Designs has moved to its new exhibit space inside of Hooker's showroom in the IHFC for this month's High Point Market.
Dubbed Forever Young Furnishings by Opus Designs, the new division of Hooker will be showing in about 6,500 square feet. The space has an entry door that will have signage featuring the new name. Forever Young is showing 14 groups, including one market introduction, Tahoe. The boy's group is made of pine veneers and solids with a rustic, distressed finish with rounded edges. James Millner, vice president of merchandising, said he kept the group to 12 SKUs because boy's collections typically don't need a breadth of options. Pieces include a bunk bed, bookcase and a captain's bed.
During premarket in March, Kim Shaver, vice president of marketing communications, said both companies were pleased with the new partnership. “We're excited about the opportunity to take a brand-new, fresh company and combine it with Hooker's tradition,” she said. “It's certainly a win-win situation.”
