Wouldn’t you love to find out what consumers really think about designing their kids’ rooms?
Sit back and relax because we partnered with HGTV for an exclusive online consumer survey and you hold the results in your hands.
We surveyed consumers via an online survey linked to HGTV’s Ideas newsletter in February. The focus of the survey was on the design of children’s rooms, product transitions as the child grows and three product categories — beds, mattresses and sheets; 2,788 consumers shared their opinions with us.
Here are a few things I found interesting.
Just about everyone does Internet research before shopping/buying now, but where do they start? Our results show the number one place is retailer Web sites — 61% of the respondents look to retailers for help.
When they’re changing the look of the child’s room 89% do so with top-of-bed, 72% with furniture and 64% with decorative accessories.
When asked if they want transitional products 63% said they wanted some pieces that will grow, 29% said all pieces should be able to grow and 8% said they’d design the entire room as the child grows. Wow, 8% will totally redo the entire room — that’s pretty impressive. I wonder if that’s the same 8% that prefer the 600- to 1,000-thread-count sheets for their kids?
