WASHINGTON—Douglas Co. of Keene, N.H., is recalling 74,000 Lil’ Snugglers Children’s Blankets because of a potential strangulation hazard.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the blanket’s satin edge can come loose, posing a strangulation hazard. Douglas has received 18 reports of the satin separating from the

blanket. No injuries have been reported.

The blankets are 14 inches square with an animal head sewn in the middle. The satin border around the outside edge is about 1 inch wide. The blankets were sold in 10 styles: Cream Lamb (style no. #1327), Cream/Tan Horse (#1328), Green Frog (#1329), Pink Horse (#1330), Blue Bear (#1331), Yellow Giraffe (#1332, pictured), Tan Pup (#1333), Yellow Duck (#1339), Brown Monkey (#1341) and Pink Bear (#1351).

Only early edition blankets—those with a purchase order number of 1330 or below—are included in the recall. Each design's style number (like those listed above) and purchase order number is identified on a white tab sewn into the blankets behind the red Douglas label in the format "style number/purchase order number."

The blankets were sold at specialty stores nationwide and on the Web from April 2005 through December 2007 for about $12. They were made in China.

Consumers are asked to return blankets to Douglas for a free replacement blanket or credit toward another item of equal value. The company can be reached at (800) 992-9002 or online at www.douglastoys.com.
