“For the last few years, I’ve really enjoyed being able to leave my desk job with Furniture Today to help Kids Today cover JPMA, the ABC Kids Expo and the conference,” Hunt said. “Between my background in community newspapers as well as retail management, I feel like this is a good fit, both for me and the readers.”
Before joining Furniture/Today, Hunt spent a year managing Gwen’s Interiors, an interior design shop/retail store in Madison, N.C. Prior to that, she was managing editor for the biweekly newspaper, The (Madison) Messenger for five years. She had also spent a year as managing editor of a group of five weeklies near Baton Rouge, La., and six years in retail management, including home décor store Kirkland’s. A New Orleans native, she is a graduate of Louisiana State University.
Tanya K. Merritte, who has been KT’s managing editor for the past four years, is joining the Furniture/Today staff as copy/layout editor. Merritte will continue to work on special projects with KT and travel with the staff to cover trade shows and the conference.
“Tanya has done a great job here at Kids Today, and we’re glad she’ll still be working with us on special projects,” said Lisa Casinger, KT editor. “Gerri’s background and experience will be a great asset to the magazine and we’re happy to have her on board.”
