Annie Selke Home to launch

Carole Sloan -- Kids Today, 8/21/2008 9:54:00 AM

Pittsfield, Mass. — Annie Selke Home, a new home furnishings program created by Selke, the founder and creative head of Pine Cone Hill and related companies, launches at retail with Calico Corners in October.

The licensed merchandise program consists of decorative fabrics from P/Kaufmann and a new furniture collection with Vanguard for an extensive range of case goods and upholstered furniture, a line of trims with Gelberg Braid as well as coordinating rugs from Selke’s Dash & Albert rug division.

Decorative bedding fashioned from the decorative fabrics will be made by Legacy Home and will be featured exclusively by Neiman Marcus as five beds. The fabrics will retail from $24.99 to $59.99 a yard.

Calico Corners will feature the 40-sku fabric collection as part of its mini-bolt presentation program as well as offering custom window treatments, decorative bedding and other fabric custom products, Selke said. The fabrics, select furniture pieces, trims and rugs will be featured in a special setting in 115 Calico Corners stores. It also will be featured on the retailer’s Web site. The fabric collection features four color families with “raspberry being the most fashion forward,” she said.

Calico Corners will have a year's exclusive on the collection at retail, Selke said. And Vanguard will be the only furniture producer for the Annie Selke Home program. Lee Inds., a current upholstered furniture licensee, will continue to produce those styles as long as they have market viability, she said. The reason for the change in licensees, she explained, “is that I wanted one company for both case goods and upholstery and Lee is only upholstery. I love Lee but they only do upholstery.”

Selke’s design signature is bold statements of color and unique twists on familiar design motifs. She started her business in 1994 with her husband Whitney, and in 2001 bought Potluck Studios, a tableware company, and Dash & Albert, a rug company in 2003.
