AT THE MARKET – Maclaren debuted its Grand Tour LX transport system here, the first “crossover” vehicle in the industry.

Crafted from high-quality, lightweight resilient aluminum, it has full built-in suspension for a comfortable ride in urban environments. The chassis has a champagne-colored sateen finish and telescopic height-adjustable handle.
“It’s like the Escalade of the stroller industry,” said Christine Poppy, Maclaren marketing manager.
The GT LX is a finely-designed luxury transport system for Maclaren’s 2009 collection. The model commemorates the 20th anniversary of Maclaren’s invention of the first travel system, the Super Dreamer, in 1989.
The GT LX offers key features including: a forward- or rearward-facing seat, a removable carry cot, and the capability to take an infant car seat. The chassis folds up easily and quickly with one hand, without disassembly.
The GT LX incorporates new high-tech features never before seen on a stroller, such as safety lights on the chassis front, and a dashboard console with “driving instruments,” including a clock, temperature gauge and a pre-calibrated Strollometer that measures how far and how fast mom is “strolling” her way back into shape – all built into the handle frame.
The stroller also has a convertible seat with 5-point safety harness and bumper bar, hood with air vent and sun visor, rain cover, mosquito net, shopping net and carry bag, cup holder, Maclaren luggage tag, storage cover, head hugger, shoulder ads, hidden suspension and linked brakes.
The GT LX uses Nano-Tex fabric, “the highest-end textile available,” said Poppy.
“The Grand Tour LX design marries Maclaren’s unsurpassed reputation for function and performance with new standards for comfort and style, which is why it is a true ‘crossover’,” said Bahman Kia, Maclaren USA chairman. “With this introduction, Maclaren now has a family of from-birth products to meet parents’ needs, whether it is a fund day in the ark with your GT LX, or navigating the subway or airport with one of our lightweight buggies.”
The stroller, which comes fully assembled, will be available in U.S. stores in November.
