Innobaby offers silicone bottles

Gerri Hunt -- Kids Today, 9/18/2008 8:42:00 AM

Hoffman Estates, Ill.-based Innobaby, manufacturer of products for the early years, debuted its Nursin' Smart Grow-With-Me Silicone Nursing System at the ABC Kids Expo last week.

The medical-grade, 100% silicone bottle is free of BPA, phthalates and PVC. The silicone is derived from safe and natural ingredients including pebbles, sand and platinum.

“A lot of thoughts were put in by 20 doctors on this design,” said Jee Y. Kim, Innobaby co-founder.

The flexible and collapsible bottle helps reduce gas, colic and spit up without additional parts for ventilation. It resists heat, tears and scratches, and is dishwasher safe.

The nursing system works from birth through toddler years with interchangeable accessories. Starting with just one bottle, there are several silicone options for a top—a natural nipple, a spoon, or a straw cup.

The nipple, made in Stages 1-5, stretches easily, supporting the baby's natural suckling motion and pressure.

“This gets the jaw moving because it's like natural breastfeeding,” said Kim. “It's also good for babies who can't breastfeed.”

The silicone spoon comes in two sizes—small for infant formula feeding and first foods; large for thicker solid foods.

And the straw cup replaces a sippy cup, and is a dome-like top for the bottle, with a silicone straw. The top slides open to reveal a valve that can be turned to control the flow of liquid.

An Essential Starter Pack retails for $27.99 and includes a 5-ounce bottle, nipple, spoon and cap. A Grow-With-Me Premium Starter Set is $74.99, and includes a 5-ounce bottle, two 9-ounce bottles, nipple, spoon and straw cup top.
