Move marks Maclaren's entry into juvenile furniture category

SOUTH NORWALK, Conn. – Maclaren, a consumer lifestyle company known for its premium buggies and baby products, announced today that it has acquired the juvenile modern furniture company, NettoCollection. The acquisition initiates Maclaren’s entry into the nursery furniture category, and follows on the heels of the successful retail introductions of the Grand Tour travel system, Beginning personal care for mothers, and seasonal fashion buggy liner program.

“We are very pleased to be acquiring such a visionary company like Netto,” said Dan Pennacchio, president of Maclaren USA, Inc. “Like Maclaren, the Netto brand is synonymous with the highest level of quality, style, and innovation, which makes this acquisition a great fit for our company. Maclaren looks forward to leveraging our strength and history of success to further expand the Netto product line, to globalize Netto’s distribution and to expand the Netto brand into related nursery product categories. Our dedication to fulfilling the needs of the parenting lifestyle market is our focus as a company.”

Pennacchio added that the acquisition accelerates Maclaren’s time to market and helps them fulfill consumers’ needs.

“Being an iconoclast and innovator is a great way to begin, but becoming part of a company with international respect and stature is a great way to grow from small to big. Maclaren is the perfect global organization to help the Netto brand achieve this,” said David Netto, founder of Netto.

David Netto will continue his involvement with this innovative brand and will collaborate with Maclaren to design and develop future collections and other juvenile products.

With the creation of the industry’s first umbrella fold buggy over 40 years ago, Maclaren revolutionized how millions of families with young children explore their world. Maclaren also introduced the first infant travel system and the first umbrella fold twin buggy. The company has continued to establish their strong brand by innovating to provide families with high quality, modern, stylish goods in premium transport products, extensive accessories, personal care, and soft goods. In addition to providing world-class engineering and the industry’s first Sovereign lifetime warranty, Maclaren is also on the cutting edge of fashion with its collaborations with Burberry, Juicy Couture, Kate Spade, Lacoste, Lulu Guinness, Mina Perhonen, Philippe Stark, and others.

Netto first introduced modern baby furniture to the world at the JPMA show in 2003. Since then, the company has grown to release four premium nursery collections under its flagship brand NettoCollection and two lighter lines from Cubkids by Netto. The company is dedicated to simplicity of design and construction of the highest quality, which are essential to making a baby’s room a more serene and bright place. Netto was founded to ensure that good design be a priority in kids’ lives, just as in the parents’. The company’s partnerships with visionary stores have shown Netto furniture in environments that inspire and show the possibilities of modernism to be not just sleek but friendly and fun.
