Voluntary recall involves 12 play yard models

Gear manufacturer Kolcraft has recalled about 425,000 play yards after the strangulation death of a baby.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a statement last week that it had received a report that the 10-month-old boy died after being strangled by a looped changing table restraint strap that was hanging down into a Sesame Beginnings play yard. The voluntary recall includes 12 Kolcraft play yards with the same type of looped strap.
The play yards were sold between January 2001 and September 2007 with retail prices between $50 and $130. The model number is printed on a white sticker located on one of the play yard feet. A complete list of recalled models is available at www.cpsc.gov.
Customers can contact Kolcraft via its Web site or at (888) 655-8484 to receive a non-looped replacement strap. The CPSC statement also said consumers should always remove the changing table before placing the child in the play yard.
