It's show time
July 16, 2007
Summer and winter are incredibly busy times for us at Kids Today. Though our biggest trade show is of course ABC Kids Expo (and JPMA before it went away) we also attend and cover most of the major gift, textile, furniture and toy shows.
We just got back from Atlanta and will have coverage of that on the Web site and in our August issue. After that I'm headed to Las Vegas for the furniture market and then to NY for the gift/textile show.
Our goal is to give you a glimpse of the new products and find out what's going on in the industry.
One of the topics of discussion in Atlanta was actually the upcoming ABC Expo in September. Vendors are worried the show is going to be too big and retailers, even their existing customers, won't have the time to see them. Some vendors brought up the idea of having a Boutique area, much like the Modern Child or future Green showcase areas. Their thought was that grouping more of the high-end product together would be a benefit to retailers and vendors. Maybe this could be a juried section of the show? I don't know the answer, but it is worth thinking about.
