Guess who's coming for dinner...
January 9, 2008

and he's spending the week. Mark Malkoff is living in the Paramus, N.J. Ikea this week. The comdian/filmmaker is having his apartment fumigated and had no where else to turn. Friends' apartments are too small, hotels are too expensive and he says about 80% of his apartment is furnished with Ikea products anyway, so he called up the company and they said yes. Really? Wow.

This is going to be ALL over the Internet and probably even mainstream news. I wonder how many hits his Web site will get? I wonder how many people will go to the Paramus store to see him? Ikea is smart. You can't buy that type of exposure.

Hey, how about letting a mom and her baby spend the night in one of your stores?

"Hey, how about letting a mom and her baby spend the night in one of your stores?" Powerful words, Lisa. An even better idea is for readers to support Help1Up, the free, socially responsible, and environmentally friendly service which collects furniture from industry and the general public, then gives it directly to mothers and children in need. Tonight in America, an estimated 250,000 children will sleep on the floor because their families have no means to purchase furniture. Endorsed by every industry association, Help1Up is the unified charitable effort of the home furniture industry. Visit www.Help1Up.org to get involved. We need your help so that we can help others.

Lisa, as you may have noticed, we have a baby who lives in our store! She gets to go home with her mom at night but having her around has been great for business. Having a store baby is the closest we'll come to letting anyone "live" in the store, though. If anyone was in the store after-hours, they'd set off the alarm! :)
