Stories from around the Web
November 5, 2007

Every now and then I find stories on the Internet that I find interesting but that don't really fit anywhere in the magazine or Web site, so I'll share them here.

Target seeks ideas from Fla. college students--Target has given University of Tampa business students two case studies, one on recruiting and one on how to increase its grocery sales. What a fabulous idea. Not only will this give the retailer some fresh ideas but it will give the students something "real" to work on. It reminds me of the student design awards JPMA did. I often wondered how many of those designs either sparked an idea for a company or actually got bought and went into production.

Everywhere chemicals--This USA Today article is full of information about the plastic issue. To be honest, I can't wrap my thoughts around how critical this is because you hear good arguments from both sides of the fence.

Miley Cyrus site on tween queen throne--If, by some chance, you haven't heard of Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus, pick up a magazine, newspaper or turn on the TV. This girl is on fire and young girls all across the country are flocking to her concerts in droves. There are lots of Hannah products out there now--including furniture.

Broadband changing e-commerce--The bar has been raised. Not only must you have a Web site, online shoppers are looking for more in their net shopping experiences.
