Multi-Generational Communications (Or The Lack Thereof)
February 22, 2008

Somedays I feel out-of-the-loop, so to speak.  We have 3 active generations in our business and often times, we do not successfully communicate between the generations.  There is the obvious seniority of older generations paired with the fresh and current ideas of my generation, the youngest generation.  I sometimes feel as if the older generations are conspiring together against us "children" (I believe some of them think I'm still in diapers) while my generation (somewhat secretly) aspires to take over the business.

I wonder, of those of you who are members of a multi-generational family business' management, who else goes through this?  I know that we're not the only ones.  I would really like to encourage any of you who read this and can relate, to post a comment sharing your insights, stories, suggestions, or sympathies.  Please register with Kids Today Online and login before you comment.  I would like to begin a dialogue amongst families... a virtual support group of sorts (only far less serious).  Come on, it'll be great to hear from you.  Thanks!
