Once A Sales Person, Always A Sales Person
October 29, 2007
You can always tell when you meet someone in sales. True sales persons are quite passionate about the art of persuasion. Whether they are actually trying to sell a product, sell someone on an idea, or just sell themselves, sales people are always trying to push something.
I consider myself to be completely guilty of this offense. When I am around people who have children, I am constantly mentioning products or concepts on which I can sell them. When I am around those who are not in the market for anything in a baby store, I still find a way to sell them something. While I'm sometimes conspicuously pushing something, I am (more often than not) subtle in my outside-of-work sales. As sales people, though, it is tough to conceal our true nature for long. We stand out as a breed apart.
I know people who have been in sales but are no longer. These people, being true sales people, still try to persuade others every chance they get. This could be considered a down-side to being a commited sales person... not to me, though. I wish these people would come work for me! The best sort of employees you can have are those that are honest, hardworking, and sales-oriented! Happy selling!!! :)
