Welcome Home ABC Attendees!
September 12, 2007
Mom and Krystal arrived at the house around 10 o'clock last night. Both obviously were exhausted and suffered from jet lag. Mom said she didn't actually fall asleep until around 1 am because of her time zone adjustment. I'm sure that many of you suffered similar fates upon your return. Despite the strain of travel, there was still the ritual product-sample-and-gift giving that we ceremoniously embark upon after every buying show.
There were knick-knacks, toys, and candies galore! The gifts, of course, are no longer for my sisters and me. The shower of goodies falls upon the next generation, Kailey and Skyla. It is so amusing to watch Kailey (Skyla is too young to understand) when she is getting all of her show treats... reminds me an awful lot of Krystal, Lindsay, & myself when we were growing up.
How does this ritual benefit any of the manufacturers whose goodies are being distributed to the buyers children and grandchildren? Well, what better way to learn about new products than to use them? We use all sorts of products for our children just as mom did with us. Our family members are the most passionate sales people when it comes to products we love. It is far easier to sell a product that you truly enjoy and believe in. Another benefit (at least in generational businesses) is building brand name recognition. I remember manufacturer names from when I first learned to read. I had a heck of a time with "Red Calliope"!
Retailers, manufacturers, and others, I hope your ABC trip was wonderful! I hope your return was even more wonderful! Until next year... adieu!
