Kids Today Conference Is A Success!
March 6, 2008
Though quite exhausted from the whole ordeal, I would like to briefly share my overall experience at this year's Kids Today Conference in Savannah, Georgia.
I found the conference to be immensely beneficial and inspiring for myself in relation to my family's business. My personal favorite presentation was the discussion with the delightful and charming Edward Walker of Trading Spaces. Edward gave me some wonderful ideas on how to think outside the box and how to really maximize the potential of my store's vignettes and displays. I can't wait to get to work on one wall in particular that has never been used well. (No, I will not show you a picture of it right now. You'll have to wait until it's fixed.)
There were many other presentations, discussions, and panels during the conference in addition to that of Edward Walker. I returned home from this conference with so many fresh perspectives from sessions on marketing, e-tailing, merchandising, communicating, and much, much more. I look forward to sharing many of these concepts with you over the next couple of weeks. I would love if you, the reader, would take a few moments to comment and open the discussion for all. You will need to register with Kids Today Online and login before filling in the comment box. I know it takes effort but it is greatly appreciated, in particular, by me.
Going into this conference I had no idea who bothered to read my blog. I was humbled by the many, many people who came up to me during the conference to state that they enjoy reading it. I was also humbled by those who approached me to share that they enjoyed my power point presentation and the panel discussion in which I was a participant. The presentation, in particular, was quite far out of my comfort zone but I felt a strong sense of support from my colleagues. The Kids Today Conference provided me with a refreshed love for the industry as well as wonderful new ideas and concepts to apply to my store. More importantly, though, the Kids Today Conference has given me some amazing new and strengthened relationships as well as a renewed sense of self and confidence. My conclusion, the Kids Today Conference 2008 was a smashing success!
