Best First Birthday Gifts
July 18, 2008

I often have customers looking for great gifts to give for first birthday parties.  Here are some of my all-time favorites.

Together Tunes Block from Small World Toys/Neurosmith:

This enchanting toy features crinkles, squeakers, a removable telephone and much, much more!  Each time you tap the block the next verse of the song featured on the top panel will play.  Old MacDonald, for instance, goes through the horse, pig, sheep, cow, and duck verses of the song.  My niece loves to dance with her block and is absolutely enthralled with the weasel that pops out of the mulberry bush.

Or how about this one?  This is the Roly Poly Shape Sorter from Edushape.

It's more than just a shape sorter.  This toy engages baby in play while helping to develop hand-eye coordination.

Another gift that "keeps on giving" would have to be interactive children's books.  Below are a couple of my faves.

Five Little Ducks from Penton Overseas:

This classic comes with great die-cut board pages and a duck-noise button.  Sure to be a hit!

Your Personal Penguin by Sandra Boynton from Workman Publishers:

Not only is it a Sandra Boynton book (which, in case you don't know, are the BEST for young children next to Dr. Seuss) but it also comes with a song download!  That's more bang for your buck!

If toys and books aren't your thing, consider an outfit from Zutano.

One outfit from Zutano can be mixed and matched with other clothing in the child's wardrobe and can be turned into multiple outfits with the purchase of additional pieces.  This is a true mix and match line that washes well, wears well, and fits well.
