Treat Your Customers Like Celebrities And Your Celebrities Like Customers
October 15, 2007
Atlanta is home to many professional athletes, a large urban music scene, and Ted Turner's media empire. We have had our share of local and national celebrities shop our store, to say the least. Human nature tells us to treat these customers like the stars that they are... but is that the way they should be treated?
It is my belief that all customers should be treated as special. As each baby is unique, so is each customer... each family. They do not need to be considered exceptional by society to be treated as exceptional in my store. I believe this mentality has helped us to survive for so long.
Celebrities should be treated with the same excellent service as anyone else who comes into the store. I do know, though, that they do not want to be hounded. Employees should never announce the presence of a celebrity either to customers or to other employees. Employees should also never request autographs, photos, or souvenirs from celebrities in the store. We all want our customers to purchase repeatedly from us and allowing employees to badger celebs will only keep them from coming back.
As for who our celebrity clientele list... well, I suppose you'll just have to use your imagination. Though many aspects of a famous person's life are going to be broadcast in one format or another, you are not going to find that here. If you want to know what they bought, you'll have to check the tabloids. ;)
