More Efficient Pumping For Working Moms?
May 15, 2008
Rarely do I use this forum for plugging a product on the market but this is definitely noteworthy.
I spent some time today with the inventor of
Your Breast Friends, an fellow Atlanta resident. She showed me and my staff how the Your Breast Friends hot and cold therapy packs work. I was blown away by both the simplicity of design and the "duh!" factor. As a mom, I couldn't
believe that I didn't think of this when I was nursing.
The packs are basic fabric-covered hot/cold gel packs but they are shaped to fit around the entire breast where the milk ducts are found. Warm packs open the ducts and produce faster flow and thus allow for more efficient production. When chilled, the same packs slow milk flow and can be used to wean a baby or dissuade milk production.
The product can be used in conjunction with a breast pump. Anyone who has ever used a breast pump can tell you that it would be nothing short of miraculous to have the process made faster and more efficient. A working mom can take the warm packs, place the pump shield inside, and actually pump with the packs in place. This can take as much as 5 minutes off of the pump time for each side! Wow!
I know I swore I wouldn't use this blog for shameless advertising but this a product I believe in wholeheartedly. It's also a product that you might otherwise not hear of for quite a while. As I said, the company is based here in Atlanta. Her operation is so small right now that advertising is only done locally. I don't imagine that you'll see these at national baby products shows. I think she's gearing this product more toward the lactation consultant and hospital communities for now, only because you can't start everywhere. The reason I've opted to share this info is because many of you store owners, like my family, want access to the very latest and greatest of products. If this isn't it for nursing, I don't know what is.
For further information regarding this product you can contact Donna at
