Catching Up
June 18, 2008

After last month's drama with furniture shipments, things are starting to fall back into place.  They say that which doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.  Well, I'm either dead or strong as an ox by now.

Seriously, though, I'm learning (slowly but surely) to separate that which bothers me at work from my home life.  With my daughter being out of town for the week, I'm realizing what I'm going to miss if I don't learn to leave my work at the store.  It's not fair for an expectant mother to wait 4 months for her furniture, true, but it's also not fair for me to spend my time worrying with things I can't fix instead of spending time with my 9 year old daughter.  I don't want these precious years to slip through my fingers while I'm worrying for someone else's furniture.

I'm starting to get it.  I suppose this is all a part of my own growing up, though.  It seems somehow unfair that I would still be experiencing such agonizing growing pains but I suppose that is a part of life.  If we don't continue to grow and learn, we'll lose our reason to press on.  Because many of my friends are 10-20 years older than I am, they often tell me that my journey is just beginning.  What!?!  Granted, most of them didn't have children as early as I did, but I really did think I had made it into adulthood.  Apparently I'm easing into it now.  (I'll be 29 on Saturday.)

Life is starting to get back on track, though.  The future is looking bright.  I'm moving rapidly toward being debt free.  I'll then be able to start saving toward buying another house and moving out from my mom's (although I'm really not in a hurry... it's nice here and the rent is reasonable!)  I'm about to settle the drama with my daughter's father being in and out of her life once and for all in court (what a relief it will be for both my daughter and for me!)  And, of course, I'm back to regular blogging.  :)  For those of you who stuck by me in my slump last month, thank you!  I promise to make it up to you all this month!  I love you guys!
