Hot Colors For Kids Rooms
July 16, 2008
Color trends come and go in the world of fashion and interior design. I am, by no means, an expert on what is "cool" and what is not. What I am, though, is aware of what sells and what people are looking for. It is common to see a trickle-down in color preferences from the adult market.
Right now we're seeing (at least in the south) the dark woods being very popular. On dark furniture, in children's rooms, we are seeing customers leaning toward fall colors. Chocolate, orange, teal, raspberry, brick red, and cream are all very much in style. It seems like not so long ago that sage toile and a French provincial look was all the rage. The tables have turned, though, from a light, soft look to a dark, crisp look.
It amazes me how the market switches and how customers change direction with the trends. I do have, though, many customers who stay with traditional designs for children's rooms. Some people still believe that every baby should have a white crib with either pastel pink or baby blue. Some things never change.
What is popular in your part of the country? Are you seeing the same trends that we see in the south? Do you still see the same traditional ideas surface on a regular basis from among the fashion fads?
