Giggle in San Francisco

March 27, 2009 Well, it seems appropriate to post about our local Giggle store
here in SF.

I have to say, Ali Wing is the former owner of my family's house in Calistoga, so I feel a certain kinship to her store and respect her drive to make Giggle what it is today. I remember when the store opened in San Francisco. I was working for Pottery Barn Kids as the Director of Design- and was thrilled to see a children's store open right here in the city. I was skeptical whether it would be a success at the Chestnut Street location, where singles and latte drinkers flirt with shopping for lingerie and stylish shoes.
There are not that many kids stores in SF. Not even Pottery Barn Kids opened a store here.
But 3 cheers for Giggle! It still stands here in latte-land.
When I went into the store to photo it for my blog, they were having storytime for local kids- who were mesmerized.  I quietly snapped away (after asking for permission of course) and here are some of my favorite things:
The signature store front, of course! With it's bold and easily recognizable stripes. Fun, fun, fun!

Bathtime at Giggle includes: a sink for display, and a
vast array of bathtime products. How cute is that!?

The checkout- a great place for wall art- but not too much art.
I like how it looks more like a home wall than a store display- all pieces coordinate.

The lampshades... love that they match the outside awning- bringing the signature
stripe into the store. I wish she would do a small nursery & bath collection
using her stripe. Ali, can I design that for you please? I can see it now!

And my favorite thing: the hardware store nail rounder,
used as display. I wanted to take this home with me.
Proof that storage can be unique and clever.
Congratulations to Giggle on their success!
I can't wait to visit their new stores.
